How Fitness and Leadership Are Tied…

We have a saying in my house, “if you aren't growing, you are dying”; and, when you think about it, it’s true. Stay in a growth mindset and water the seeds of change in your life by reading, learning, and most importantly, getting out of your comfort zone!

A goal of mine is to help you, as a reader, connect the dots between a strong body and how that renders a more effective leader. What you do (or don’t do) when it comes to your health will undoubtedly affect how long and how well you lead.

Whether it’s a boardroom, a classroom, a home, or anything in between, you likely have a leadership role that you fill in your life. My page is for leaders like you!

I haven’t always embraced a healthy lifestyle. For years my own health took a backseat to all the other competing priorities in my life-work, family, friends, etc. Does any of this sound familiar? But when I realized I wasn’t doing myself any favors by focusing on everyone else’s health but my own things changed. I changed.

I can honestly say that I feel and look better, I have more energy and vitality in my 40s than I ever did in my 20s. It’s all because I chose to make a healthy lifestyle change and you can too! Saying YES to a healthier lifestyle paved the way for me to lead a successful business alongside having two young children, and one big kid (ahem, I mean husband).

You do not have to be in the field of health and wellness like I am for the same to be true for you. You can become the healthiest version of yourself and, in turn, a more effective leader at whatever age or whatever stage of life you find yourself.

In the Joy of Movement, Kelly McGonigal writes, "If you are willing to move, your muscles will give you hope. Your brain will orchestrate pleasure. And your entire physiology will adjust to help you find the energy, purpose, and courage you need to keep going."
